As a mark of celebration for unions that have had an outstanding year – winners in this category will demonstrate the very best of what they do; from vision, buy-in and planning to engagement, success and impact.

How to nominate

Restrictions: ‘Small and Specialist Students’ Union of the Year’ can only be entered by higher education students’ unions.

The NUS Awards 2014 are now open for you to enter and nominations close midday on Wednesday 7th May 2014. Judging criteria for each award are detailed below.

Criteria

The following judging criteria are used for all awards in this category.

1. What is the students’ union’s vision and how has it been developed?
2. How has the union achieved buy-in from its members and other relevant stakeholders and how has this been taken forward this year?
3. What steps has the union taken this year to achieve best practice in its planning and objective setting?
4. What has the union done to increase the quality of its contact with engaged members and to make new contacts with unengaged members to improve the union this year?
5. How is the union positively contributing to the student experience, and how is this demonstrated?
6. How has the union demonstrated improvement in the past year – including in participation, influence and structures?
7. What successful campaigns has the union run and what impact and changes have been made as a result of the union’s work, and to whom?
